#56 Berryman Mansion 345 S. Church Street (Circa 1900)
This is one of the last and most impressive homes of the Victorian period in Smithfield. It features a ballroom on the third floor, a widow's walk at its peak, and an ornate gazebo overlooking the Pagan River. The house was a wedding present for Cora Gwaltney, daughter of P.D. Gwaltney, Sr. from her husband, Frank Berryman and is sometimes referred to as the "Wedding Cake House" for its history and ornate white plaster entranceway.
