TEMPORARY HOURS (May 2021):

Wednesday & Thursday 4:30-9pm, Friday 4-9pm, Saturday 11:30-9pm, Sunday 11:30-8pm, Closed Monday & Tuesday

Laid-back family atmosphere with deck seating overlooking the Jones Creek. Fresh local seafood is the specialty of Captain Check-a-Mucks. Rockfish, oysters, scallops, crabcakes, she crab soup, and key lime pie are among the offerings.

REAL NELLIE AND JOE'S KEY LIME PIE

Made from real key lime juice fresh from the Florida Keys, a and tart taste that will make you come back again and again. Available with toasted coconut and whip cream. No better way to finish off a great seafood dinner.

FRESH FRUIT COBBLER

These change with the season but they are home baked just like grandmas. Crispy brown crust filled with wonderful fruit cobbler, then topped with vanilla ice cream and a heapin of whipped cream. Warm fuzzy yum.

BROWNIE SUNDAE

Everytime the crew builds one of these, they try to outdo the last. For the chocoholic and serious sundae person only please. Chocolate fudge brownie, two scoops of vanilla ice cream, hopped pecans, rich chocolate sauce, heap of whipped cream, topped with cherries.

SANDWICH MENU

All of these items come with kettle cooked potato chips. Sub the chips for any other side for $1.99.

CRAB CAKE SANDWICH

We should have kept a count on how many of these we have sold, maybe a kazillion of them. Just enough fillers to hold it together, and if it's not tight like a hockey puck it's because it is full of lump crab meat. $11.95 

FISH SANDWICH

Fresh fish-of-the-day fried to a golden brown, cripsy on a bun with lettuce and tomato. $10.95 

FAMOUS DOUGHTIE'S PORK BBQ

One of the best tasting North Carolina style BBQs that has ever been made. All pork, no fillers, with a distinctive flavor. Taste the pork with a touch of vinegar rather than that stuff they smother with enough tomato sauce that you can't taste pig anymore. $8.95

FISH TACO

Most places use the cheapest fish to stuff their tacos. We use only the best saltwater wild caught fish. Flavors of the ocean, not a tank. You will tell the difference immediately, served with the admirals own secret mango salsa and homemade taco sauce. $12.95

Hand breaded, peeled and deveined large shrimp, fried to a golden brown. $12.95

CHICKEN TENDER BASKET

Golden fried chicken tenders served with your choice of dippin sauce, wonderful crunchy outside breading with tender white meat inside. No fillers. $10.95

CHEESEBURGER

Not a whimpy quarter pounder guys, this is a serious burger, a full half pound of angus beef, grilled over live charcoal, served with lettuce, tomato, and a pickle. Quality beef just like our seafood. $10.95

SWEET ONION HUSH PUPPIES

Captains own secret recipe, been a house specialty since day one. A basket full of golden brown balls of pleasure, filled with onions and old bay seasoning and that special of this and that. Some people put butter on 'em, some people but cocktail sauce on 'em, some people eat them just like they are. A little piece of cake before dinner. $3.00 

OUR FAMOUS UNISEX CRAB SOUP

Guy, from "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" said it had more crab meat in it than any clam chowder had clams.  If we were ever famous this would be the item we would be known for. It's a combination of Granmas' and the Captains' own concoction - thick, creamy, and chunky, full of outrageous flavors and crabmeat. Cup - $5.95 Bowl - $8.95 Order a pint or quart to-go. Pint - $8.95 Quart $14.95

CORVINA BITES

Golden corvina served bite sized, fried to perfection, these bites will melt in your mouth, served with the captains own jerk sauce. $10.95

HOT CRAB DIP

Loaded with lump and claw crab meat, a special blend of cheese and spices served with fresh sliced pita bread. $12.95

STEAMED SHRIMP

Texas wild caught shrimp right out of Galveston, called Texas Pinks. Almost sweet, always tender. I dare you to find a better tasting shrimp! Half - $10.95 LB - $19.95 

TUNA BITES

Bite sized yellowfin tune, hand breaded and fried golden brown, served with the captains homemade Caribbean jerk sauce. $11.95  

TIKI SHRIMP

Large shrimp fried to perfection then tossed in our secret tiki sauce, a little heat, loads of flavor and served on a bed of lettuce. A great starter on busy nights when you need a little something until we get your main course to you. $10.95

ONION RINGS

Sweet onions cut extra thick, coated with a crunch outside and a sweet tender onion on the inside. Lightly seasoned, then carefully friend in clear, hot soybean oil. You taste the onions, not the fry oil. We do that with everything we fry. $5.95

CLAM STRIPS

Granma taught us a special way to cook clams so they wouldn't be chewy. First off, gotta have fresh clams, then we do our hocus pocus with them, hand bread them, get the frier hot and cook'em quick. Perfection! $10.95

CALAMARI

Fresh hand-cut rings, hand breaded in our special seafood breading, light breading with a lot of flavor. You actually taste the wonderful seafood flavor, not like that heavy battered-dipped. $11.95

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND MUSSELS

Direct from the cold waters of the North Atlantic, these wild caught, not farm raised, crustaceans are loaded with flavor, a full LB, steamed and served with a wonderful garlic broth, cherry tomatoes, and fresh french bread slices. $11.95

 

DINNERS

For the heartier appetite, these are larger portions, with your choice of two of our fresh sides and a pair of golden brown hush puppies. 

CRABCAKE

Two of our jumbo lump and clawmeat crab cakes cooked to perfection. We must have made and sold a kazillion of these. These are our biggest seller by far. Each cake is made by hand and stuffed with crab meat, so much crabmeat that they want to fall apart. $21.95

GOLDEN FRIED SHRIMP

So many extra large shrimp they will be falling off the plate. These peeled and deveined beauties are hand-breaded then fried in hot clean soybean oil. The taste of the shrimp comes flying through, seasoned just right with a touch of old bay. This is one dish you will need to guard from the shrimp pirates at your table. $18.95

CRAB IN BUTTER

Why go through the effort of picking crabs? Let the captain (well, actually the crew do it for you). Lump and claw meat topped with butter and seasoning and then broiled to perfection. $21.95

FRESH WILD CAUGHT SEA SCALLOPS

These North Atlantic sea scallops are fresh and never soaked in chemicals like most grocery store scallops. So fresh off the boat, we have to wash the sand off of them. We will fry them or saute them for you at your request. Either way, you'll get that sweet smooth texture and  flavor you will not soon forget! $24.95

Certified black angus, prepared the way you want! Cooked over live charcoal, served with two sides and couple pups. $18.95

MAHI

Thick filets caught off our shores, specially prepared and seasoned to perfection, then cooked over live charcoal. $19.95

GOLDEN CORVINA

Flown in fresh three times a week from Quespos Costa Rica, thick flakey white fillets, specially prepared and seasoned, then grilled over live charcoal. Served with two sides and a couple of the captains hush puppies. $22.95

FAMOUS DOUGHTIES BBQ

The same family that started the company still cooks this BBQ the same way. For a Virginia Company to make a North Carolina style BBQ and last over 50 years, if must be pretty darn good! The fresh pork flavor shines through and the touch of vinegar and spices set this BBQ apart. All pulled pork, no fillers. Try it with the Captain's own BBQ sauce to kick it up a notch. $16.95

Certified black angus, beautiful marbling, with falvor out the kazoo! Prepared the way you want! Cooked over live charcoal. Served with two sides and a couple pups. $22.95

A 6oz filet or a 12oz New York Strip cooked over live charcoal and your choice of one surf, crabcake, scallops, or shrimp. $22.95 or upgrade to the 12oz Ribeye for $4.00.

CRISPY CHICKEN SALAD

Romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, peppers, cucumber, croutons, and shredded cheddar cheese topped with fried chicken breast and sprinkled with bacon. $13.95

SHRIMP SALAD

Romaine and iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, peppers, cucumber, croutons, and shredded cheddar cheese, topped with steamed shrimp seasoned with oldbay. Served with a side of our mango salsa. $14.95

CRAB SALAD
