Lacy, beautiful or handmade, valentines have an interesting history. Valentine's Day itself did not come to be celebrated as a day of romance until about the 14th century, but in the centuries since, people have come to exchange valentine cards with poetry and art expressing sentiments of love, flirtation and friendship. This fun lecture will provide a brief history of these cards, and participants will create one of their own.
Lecture hosted by Rachel Popp, curator of the Isle of Wight County Museum, at Windsor Town Center, 23361 Courthouse Highway, Windsor.
