Cypress trees have evergreen foliage and acorn-like seed cones, and their multitude is the reason why Cypress Creek, which flows outward of Pagan Creek, gets its name. It was mentioned by name as early as 1657 in land grants, and its waters have witnessed much history in Isle of Wight County since.
