Blackwater River Region through the eyes of a Naturalist.  Fire-maintained pine forests once dominated southeast Virginia.  Restoration of wetlands, natural habitats and flora and fauna like the endangered red-cockaded woodpecker, an indicator of forest health, are seen in perspective.
